Updated Look at Current FedEx Cup Points Standings

We’ve obviously got a long way to go before the TOUR Championship at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta determines the 2023 FedEx Cup points winner. With the Fall leg of the TOUR in the books and the 2022 calendar year coming to a close it’s interesting to see who has gotten off to a fast start in terms of the FedEx Cup points standings:

#1 Seamus Power

Seamus Power has been active this Fall, competing in six events. Power broke into the winner’s circle in the 2021 Barbasol Championship, becoming just the fifth player from the Republic of Ireland to win a PGA event. He followed that up with a 2022 calendar victory, winning the Butterfield Bermuda Championship at the end of October. With a third at the World Wide Technology Championship and a fifth at the RSM Classic, Power has accumulated 749 points and some nice padding. We will see if he can hang on to it in 2023.

#2 Keagan Bradley

The 36-year-old Keegan Bradley only played three tournaments this Fall, but he won the ZOZO Championship and also came in fifth at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Throw in a 21st-place finish at the CJ Cup – which had the deepest field of any Fall tournament, and it’s been a successful start to the season for the affable veteran.

#3 Mackenzie Hughes

Mackenzie Hughes had a disappointing 2022 with no wins in 27 events, a long drought since winning the RSM Classic in November 2016 in just his fifth PGA start. That drought is over, though with Hughes getting the win at the Sanderson Farms Championship. He didn’t finish better than 16th in any of his other four Fall tour events, but that’s still good enough for third place so far.

#4 Tom Kim

Even though he’s only 20 we expect Tom Kim to be stationary in the top five of the FedEx Cup points standings all season, Kim won the Wyndham Championship last season, and followed that up with a win in the Fall at the Shriners Children’s Open, making him the first player since Tiger Woods (1996) to get two PGA victories before turning 21. His birthday isn’t until late June, so he has plenty of time to pad that record.

#5 Brian Harman

Brian Harman is the highest golfer in the FedEx Cup points standings that didn’t have a win in the Fall leg of the TOUR, and he’s in fact, the only golfer in top 10 without a victory. Getting up to #5 without a win is a testament to how well Harman overall played in the Fall, claiming runner-ups at both the RSM Classic and the World Wide Technology Classic and coming in 15th at the Shriners Children’s Open.

Getting second at the World Wide Technology Classic was Harman’s best finish in five years. He obviously didn’t pick up a win last year then, but still finished 20th in the FedEx Cup final standings.
