Valspar Championship Betting Favorites 2022

The Valspar Championship is the next event on the PGA Tour and remains on the East coast swing in Florida. Just last week, many players experienced delays true to bad weather and even finished the Players Championship in five days.

Many that recently played will be competing in this event without much time to rest. Below you can see what favorites could stand out in the field.

Top Betting Favorites at Play

The Valspar Championship field features 20 out of the top 50 in the world rankings. This course demands excellent ball striking and iron play, but putting is oddly not as important.

Viktor Hovland has the best strokes gained per round out of everyone in the field. Granted it is only four rounds when he finished third last year, he still showed dominance when he competed. However, his recent play suggests that he might not be the best pick despite being the third-best golfer in the world.

Justin Thomas finished tied for 13th in this event last year and is currently the eighth-best golfer in the world. With that in mind, he has a great shot to lead the field and take over after the third round.

Jason Kokrak is an excellent value play but you still get part of the betting favorite in play. He also tied alongside Thomas last year at 13th and is currently the 26th best golfer in the world.

Collin Morikawa has had mixed results this season as the second-best golfer in the world. His best performance so far this year was a runner-up finish at the Genesis Open, which featured nearly every top 50 golfer. He has to take advantage of every opportunity if he wants to win this event.

Dustin Johnson is a mixed bag right now and it is difficult to see what you would get from him. It is hard to count him out, but a recent play in the Players Championship shows that he could be on an upswing in terms of top form heading into this event.

Most Likely Favorite to Succeed

Out of all the favorites exclusively, Sam Burns remains at the top of the list. Over the last 12 rounds here, he has the second-best strokes gained per round, and his game suits well with this course.

Not only that, but his current price is on par with a mix of good value and a favorite. This makes him a good selection and the best favorite to likely win this event.

Many of the top golfers here are coming off of competitive play at the Players Championship, so not much rest. Burns was not really in contention to win, so this was just a practice for this event.
